What better way to live in a Barbie World than with a Barbie phone?
HMD (Human Mobile Devices) unveiled its Barbie Flip Phone Wednesday, designed with plenty of pink nostalgic and without social media. The company has partnered with Mattel to create the retro device that helps cut down on screen time to focus on living the Barbie lifestyle.
While fulfilling the essential functions of mobile phone like calling and texting, the device will not have internet access or the ability to install social media apps. Instead the device will be equipped with multiple Easter eggs including a "Hi Barbie" voice message when powered on.
"It’s pink, it’s chic, it’s sleek, it’s got a mirror on the front (so you can touch up on the go) and it is the perfect tool to live your best life and take a vacation from your smartphone," the HMD news release said.
While the product is already available in the U.K. for £99 ($130.74) as of Wednesday, U.S. consumers must wait for October to make calls like Barbie.
Barbie phone with pink battery, lanyard and extra covers
If owning the phone of childhood dreams wasn't appealing enough, the product also comes with replaceable covers, accessories and a Barbie-style beaded phone strap, according to HMD.
The purchase of the Barbie flip phone comes with the following items:
- Two extra back covers
- Crystals, gem stickers and other accessories
- Pink battery
- Pink USB Type-C charger
- Beaded lanyard and attachable charms
- Cleaning cloth
- Setup guide
How to buy the HMD Barbie Phone
The HMD Barbie Phone will cost $129 for U.S. customers.
The product release date is set for Oct. 1, however, eager buyers can place their pre-order by visiting HMD.com by Sept. 23.
The cellular device will work for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon wireless networks.
The company also recommends following @hmd.unitedstates on Instagram for updates until release date.
