A new name will be etched into the illustrious list of women's singles Wimbledon champions as the original field of 128 competitors has been whittled down to the final two.
No. 7 Jasmine Paolini of Italy and No. 31 Barbora Krejčíková of the Czech Republic will compete on Saturday in a bid to become a Wimbledon women’s singles champion for the first time.
Paolini and Krejčíková both reached the final after dramatic comeback victories in the semifinals against Croatia’s Donna Vekić and 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, respectively.
Paolini, who had never won a Wimbledon match before this year’s tournament, is set to play in her second consecutive Grand Slam final following her loss to No. 1 Iga Swiatek at the French Open final last month.

Meanwhile, Krejčíková already holds the 2021 French Open singles title and seven Grand Slam doubles titles, including Wimbledon victories in 2018 and 2022.
