Canadian rapper and singer Drake dropped a new EP “Scary Hours 3” Thursday night praising Taylor Swift in his track “Red Button.”
In his explicit song, “Red Button,” he says: “Taylor Swift the only (n-word) that I ever rated / Only one could make me drop the album just a little later / Rest of y’all, I treat you like you never made it / Leave your label devastated.”
A year ago, Swift dropped “Midnights” on Friday, October 21. At the time, Drake had a joint album with 21 Savage scheduled to come out the following Friday, but pushed it back a week later to November 4.
Swift mentioned Drake in her first title “I Forgot That You Existed” off her “Lover” album: “And I couldn't get away from ya / In my feelings more than Drake, so yeah.”
It’s important to note Drake and his song “In My Feelings” serve as a reference in this first verse line. The song is not about him.
The two have battled for streaming records and top placements on the Billboard Hot 100. Drake holds the record for the most Billboard music award wins of all-time, and, although she is the most decorated female Billboard music awards winner, Swift could pass Drake if she takes home six awards on Sunday.
Regardless of their competitive nature, the two have maintained a friendship throughout the years. On April 22, 2022, in a now deleted or archived post from the rapper's page, Drake posted a series of photos on Instagram with a throw back photo of his arm around Swift with the caption, “They too soft to understand the meaning of hard work.” The photo has been resurfaced and shared by Swift fan accounts.
